24K Magic Chords: Learn the progressions

Apart from the intro, which is very complicated harmonically and also played in free time, the chords for 24K Magic are actually pretty repetitive.

Mainly moving between Fm11 and Bbm7, what we have here is a VI – II movement (#10 on my top 10 chord progression list)

And even though the chords seem complicated, we are mainly playing in the key of Fm, only the C7#9 is a slightly modified III chord, and the Gb7b5 is a very modified bVIIx chord.

Other than those two chords, it’s just a case of big extensions!

After having so many hits, I supposed Bruno knows a thing or two about chords and chord progressions for hits.

If you study 24K Magic’s chords, maybe you’ll learn something too.

24K Magic was yet another Bruno Mars hit!

Charismatic and extremely versatile songsmith Bruno Mars released 24K Magic in 2016, as the title track of his third studio album.

By now, Mars was a superstar having hits like Treasure, Uptown Funk, Locked Out Of Heaven, Marry You, and Forget You (Cee Lo Green) firmly establishing him as one of the great contemporary songwriters.

24K Magic was the lead single off the album, which climbed high in the charts, not just in the U.S. and the U.K., but worldwide.

Even though there is an enormous amount of lyrics to memorize, 24K Magic has found its way onto the setlist of many cover bands the world over.

If you want to impress your band members, learn the chords for the intro!
