A British rock band with a very loyal fan base!

Ocean Colour Scene (OCS) is an English rock band hailing from Birmingham, closely associated with the Britpop and indie rock movement of the 1990s, alongside bands like Blur, Oasis, Radiohead, and The Verve.

Their breakthrough came with the 1996 album Moseley Shoals, which delivered their biggest hits: The Riverboat Song, The Day We Caught The Train, and You’ve Got It Bad. These songs helped establish OCS as one of the era’s defining acts.

Among their devoted fans, the B-side Robin Hood became a cult favourite—so much so that Spytunes recorded a version of it. It’s an example of how a song can reach legendary status without mainstream promotion, much like Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours, which became a fan favourite before its 2008 official release.

Songs like these share common traits: simple harmonic structures, clear messages, and accessible melodies. Their rhythmical patterns are easy to follow, making them resonate deeply with audiences.

Following Moseley Shoals, Ocean Colour Scene maintained a steady release schedule, putting out albums every two years from 1997 to 2007. Their more recent albums include Saturday (2010) and Painting (2013), further solidifying their connection with their loyal fan base.
