Norah Jones: 8 Grammy Awards for Her Debut Album and Record-Breaking Success!
Norah Jones is best known for her tunes Come Away With Me, Angel Eyes, Creepin’ In, and Don’t Know Why.
As the daughter of The Beatles‘ musical mentor Ravi Shankar, Norah’s destiny might seem written in the stars. At the age of 23, she released her incredibly successful debut album Come Away With Me on the legendary Blue Note label.
Produced by Arif Mardin, whose vast experience helped to perfectly capture the rich voice and intimate sound of Norah’s music, the album was a critical and commercial success. Come Away With Me went on to win 8 Grammy Awards, including 5 for her individual performance, marking a historic moment in music.
In 2005, the album received Diamond status after reaching 10 million sales, and since then, it has sold over 27 million copies, making it the most successful jazz album of all time.
Beyond her debut, Norah continued to win accolades, eventually earning a total of 12 Grammy Awards, 4 World Music Awards, and 1 Brit Award. With over 37 million records sold worldwide, Norah Jones remains one of the most popular female artists post the millennium.
