Intro

||: Bm Bm7 F#m F#m7 | Em Em7 Bm Bm7 :||

Verse 1

||: Bm7 F#m7 | Em7 Bm :||
If you wanna run away with me I know a galaxy and I can take you for a ride.
I had a premonition that we fell into a rhythm where the music don’t stop for life.
Glitter in the sky, glitter in my eyes, shining just the way I like.
If you’re feeling like you need a little bit of company you met me at the perfect time.

Bridge 1

||: Bm7 F#m7 | Em7 Bm :||
You want me, I want you baby. My sugarboo, I’m levitating.
The Milky Way, we’re renegading. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Chorus 1

||: Bm7 F#m7 | Em7 Bm :||
I got you, moonlight, you’re my, starlight.
I need you, all night, come on dance with me, I’m levitating.
You, moonlight, you’re my, starlight.
I need you, all night, come on dance with me, I’m levitating.

Instrumental (as intro)

Verse 2

I believe that you’re for me I feel it in our energy I see us written in the stars.
We can go wherever so let’s do it now or never baby nothing’s ever, ever too far.
Glitter in the sky, glitter in our eyes, shining just the way we are.
I feel like we’re forever every time we get together but whatever let’s get lost on Mars.

You want me, I want you baby. My sugarboo, I’m levitating.
The Milky Way, we’re renegading. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

||: Bm7 F#m7 | Em7 Bm7 :||
My love is like a rocket, watch it blast off. And I’m feeling so electric, dance my arse off.
And even if I wanted to I can’t stop. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Levitating Backing Tracks | Chord Analysis

Above, you’ll find two backing tracks for Levitating. Using AI, I’ve isolated the chords while keeping the drums, bass, and vocals intact.

The second track has no vocals, the first one (with vocals) is blocked in some countries due to copyright restrictions.

Practise with the backing track to get fully prepared for playing Levitating with a band.

Chord Progressions – What’s Going On?

At first glance, Levitating may seem like a simple three-chord song, following a VI – III – II – VI progression.

In the key of Bm, this translates to just two bars:

||: Bm7 (VI) F#m7 (II) | Em7 (III) Bm7 (VI) :||

I’ve added minor 7th extensions to all these chords, but in practice, we shift between the minor triad and the min7 extension. Often, the final Bm chord remains a simple triad.

To see exactly how this works, you’ll need TAB. Here’s a link: Levitating – Guitar Lesson with TAB.

Once you’ve mastered this, you can play Levitating’s chords more freely, even exploring the fretboard as you perform—keeping the groove alive and making people dance.

On the gig, all you’ll need is this chord chart, mainly to keep track of the structure—as by now, you’ll already know how to play Levitating’s chords!

Levitating TAB | Course Preview

The advanced electric course hasn’t been finalised yet, so for now, there’s only TAB available for songs with chords of a similar difficulty to Levitating.

Above, you’ll find a play-along TAB loop to help you explore and develop a suitable guitar part.

In total, there are eight loops like this. Master them all, and you’ll have no trouble playing the song—perhaps even improvising, which is always a great way to keep things fresh on the gig.

Below is the TAB from the video as an image. For the full lesson, follow this link: Levitating Guitar Lesson with TAB.

How Much of Songwriting Is Rewriting?

It’s well known that professional songwriters and producers don’t wait around for inspiration—they show up and get to work.

For them, the process involves creating, rearranging, and sometimes transforming ideas from other songs into something new.

With Levitating, I hear two clear influences. I’m not suggesting these songs were directly referenced—just that their influence is noticeable.

The first is Thinking of You by Sister Sledge—it’s more of an overall vibe.

The second is the breakdown section from Blame It on the Boogie, which even has a similar lyrical rhythm.

Can you hear any other songs echoed in Levitating? Does it feel like imitation to you, or does it inspire you to try songwriting yourself?

Personally, I’d love to have a studio where I could “write” tunes all day!
