Best of You Chords: Learn the progressions

The Best Of You guitar lesson + TAB

Foo Fighters Best of You is a great example of what happens when a drummer writes a guitar riff.

Dave has based Best of You’s riff on a paradiddle called RLLR, LLRL. R means Right hand, and L means Left hand.

Try it by clapping on your knees at an even 8th-note pulse, that’s the riff! Applied to the guitar, we simply highlight the accents.

As a member, you get TAB for how this could be played as the only guitarist in the band (on the original recording there are layers).

Here’s what that TAB looks like for the verse.

Best of You chords and TAB, verse electric.

Best of You’s chords also work great slowed down, slightly modified, and played on the acoustic guitar, check the playlist above for Kaiak’s version.

I’ve taken most of their ideas and built a part that, again, works on one guitar, but now for the acoustic.

As a member, you get TAB for both the electric and acoustic parts so you can play Best of You’s chords in a way that works no matter if you’re in a band, or playing acoustically on your own.

Best of You is Peak Foo Fighters!

From Foo Fighters 5th album, In Your Honor (2005) we find Best of You as the lead and best-selling single with over 3 million combined U.S. and U.K. sales.

By now, Foo Fighters was well established with tunes such as Everlong, Monkey Wrench, My Hero, Learn to Fly, and All My Life all receiving radio play and having their place firmly established on the band’s live setlist.

Nirvana is now a distant memory and Dave Grohl is one of the biggest rock stars in the world, headlining festivals as well as selling out world tours.

Interestingly, there is still plenty left in the tank, next, they release Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007) with the super intense The Pretender, removing all doubt that this is the band to catch on this side of the millennium.
