All My Life | Chords + Lyrics
Intro
||: G5 :||
Verse 1
||: G5 | G5 :||
All my life, I’ve been searching for something,
something never comes, never leads to nothing.
Nothing satisfies but I’m getting close.
closer to the prize at the end of the rope.
All night long I dream of the day,
when it comes around and it’s taken away.
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most,
| G5 | G5 Bbadd#9 |
feel it come to life when I see your ghost.

Verse 2

And if I give it a twist. Something to hold when I lose my grip.
Will I find something in there, to give me just what I need?

Another reason to bleed. One by one hidden up my sleeve.

One by one hidden up my sleeve.

Will I find a believer? Another one who believes.
Another one to deceive. Over and over, down on my knees.
If I get any closer, and if you open up wide.
And if you let me inside. On and on, I got nothing to hide.
On and on, I got nothing to hide.

All My Life Chords: Unveiling the Powerful Progressions
This massive tune is from Foo Fighters’ fourth album, One by One. In March 2005, it was voted #94 of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks – not bad for a drummer!
Dave Grohl’s technique is as close as you get to playing drums on the guitar; check out the verse for a perfect example. The result is a super-tight rhythm section that drives the melody, and, as usual, Dave nails it.
All My Life is the only tune I know that uses the Gm chord as an open-position chord. This happens during the verse, where the shape is moved up to an Am, back to Gm, and then to a Bb.
As the open D string is maintained, the All My Life chords for the verse become:
| Gm | Gm Amadd4 | Gm | Gm Bbadd#9 |
The chorus starts on chord IV, an Eb, before returning to VI (Gm, now a G5). C/E is II, F is V, and Bb is chord I.
| Eb | Eb | G5 | G5 |
| C/E | F5 | Bb5 |
