| F | Ab/F |
Hell is gone and heaven’s here there’s nothing left for you to fear.
| Bb/F | F |
Shake your ass come over here, now scream.
| F | Ab/F |
I’m a burning effigy of everything I used to be.

Life’s too short for you to die so grab yourself an alibi.
Heaven knows your mother lied, mon cher.
Separate your right from wrongs, come and sing a different song.
The kettle’s on so don’t be long, mon cher.

Chorus 2

So come on let me entertain you.
Let me entertain you.

Verse 3

Look me up in the yellow pages, I will be your rock of ages.
Your see-through fads and your crazy phases, yeah.
Little Bo Peep has lost his sheep, he popped a pill and fell asleep.
The dew is wet but the grass is sweet, my dear.

Your mind gets burned with the habits you’ve learned.
| Bb | F |
But we’re the generation that’s got to be heard.

Let Me Entertain You Chords: Learn the progressions

Built around a four-bar chord progression which seemingly loops forever, Let Me Entertain You has a few important variations.

The verse is moving I – bIIIx – IV – I, maintaining that I chord’s root. Every other time we use a sus4 on the IV chord, like this:

| F (I) | Ab/F (IIIx) | Bb/F (IV) | F |
| F | Ab/F | Bb/F (Bbsus4/F) | F |

We are breaking plenty of harmonic rules here. The IV chord shouldn’t have sus4 as IV is Lydian (it has a #4).

The bIIIx chord is outside the key. In a way, we are in F Ionian (F, chord I), F Aeolian (for the Ab chord), and F Mixolydian (for the Bbsus4 chord) during this progression. The result of this modal interchange is tension.

For the bridge and chorus, we use the same progression but don’t keep that F in the bass.

As a guitarist, your part will be different depending on how big the band you’re playing in is. As a general rule, the bigger the band, the less you’ll play.

I”ve designed some TAB to demonstrate this concept of playing a different part depending on the scenario. You can access it here: Let Me Entertain You – Guitar Lesson with TAB.

Once the concept is understood, you can use this chord chart and improvise the part, depending on the situation you find yourself in.

Let Me Entertain You – The second big single from Life thru a Lens!

Robbie Williams‘ epic Let Me Entertain You sounds like it was written to open a show, very much like Diana Ross’ legendary I’m Coming Out.

This was the 5th single from Robbie’s debut album, Life thru a Lens (1997) where the first three had flopped, the 4th being his signature song, Angels.

Having just left Take That, Robbie had to succeed or he’d been a laughing stock for leaving one of the biggest boybands in the world.

He must have gotten nervous when the first three singles flopped and then equally as relieved when his two biggest tunes came next.

His next album, I’ve Been Expecting You (1998) was arguably better with singles Strong, No Regrets, and She’s The One.
