Paolo is great on studio albums but really shines live!

Paolo Nutini is a singer-songwriter from Paisley, Scotland. His father’s side of the family hails from Italy, but Paolo spent most of his life in Scotland, where his parents met in Glasgow.

Born in 1987, Paolo’s musical journey began by chance—when a scheduled artist was late to perform at his school, the music teacher asked Paolo to sing a song. His naturally stunning voice and the audience’s reaction caught the attention of a soon-to-be manager who just happened to be in the crowd.

A few years later, Paolo signed with Atlantic and began working on his debut album These Streets, released in 2006. Notable singles from this record include Last Request, Jenny Don’t Be Hasty, New Shoes, and Rewind.

All of these songs charted well and earned Paolo a steady following in the U.K.

His 2009 follow-up Sunny Side Up took things to the next level, moving him from two-thousand-capacity venues to five-thousand-seat concert halls. Standout tracks included Coming Up Easy and Candy.

In 2014, Paolo released Caustic Love, with the brilliantly cool Scream (Funk My Life Up) as its lead single.

I was fortunate enough to witness three legs of his 2009 tour and saw first-hand how he transitioned from small to mid-sized venues—always with sellout crowds.

With a fantastic team behind him, Paolo earned his place among the most important U.K. acts of his time and is likely to remain a significant figure for many years to come.

While Paolo has often cited The Beatles, David Bowie, Oasis, U2, Pink Floyd, and Fleetwood Mac as influences, his on-the-road vinyl collection revealed a deeper love for old-school soul, especially artists like Sam Cooke.

It’s clear that his main influences lie in American soul music, with a strong focus on vocal greats like Cooke. That said, there’s also a distinctive folk element in his sound, giving him a unique and compelling tone.

Since These Streets, Paolo has toured consistently, building a larger and more devoted fanbase with every year.

Sunny Side Up was a triumph. These Streets, legendary. Paolo Nutini combines strong yet simple songwriting with an undeniably powerful voice.

I loved every minute of watching him perform—a legend in the making and one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
