Dance Me To The End Of Love’s chords, progressions, and TAB

Dance Me To The End Of Love Analysis + TAB

Leonard Cohen‘s Dance Me To The End Of Love was released in 1984 as a single from the album Various Positions.

The music video portrays old couples in a very powerful way, the lyrics are said to be inspired by the Holocaust, disguised as a love song.

Covered by many, it is perhaps Madeleine Peyroux who best made it her own.

The chords are similar to that of a minor blues, with two turnarounds, and provide an excellent opportunity for us to work on incorporating bass lines when comping.

Members get TAB for how to best do this using both the 5th and m3rd of the chords. Here’s a link to the complete lesson: Dance Me To The End Of Love chord analysis and TAB.

Intermediate Acoustic Songs

Most intermediate acoustic tunes can’t be played using just basic open-position chords. We have to move up the fretboard and play CAGED barre chords as well.

We incorporate bass lines, add licks, extend chords, and play vocal melodies. Most importantly, we invent second guitar parts and play these songs together.
