From behind the curtain to the limelight!

Apart from their iconic Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now, McFadden & Whitehead also made their mark as songwriters for other artists—a journey that inspired their biggest hit.

The duo’s career began with Otis Redding’s touring revue before they transitioned into producing and writing for a range of artists, including The O’Jays, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Gloria Gaynor, and even The Jacksons.

Eventually, tired of staying behind the scenes, McFadden & Whitehead wrote a song reflecting their own desires to step into the spotlight. If you listen closely to the lyrics of Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now, you’ll realise that the song isn’t about racial inequality as some may have thought, but rather about the duo’s own journey of emerging from the shadows and into the limelight.

To me, this remains one of the funniest misunderstandings in songwriting history!
