Billy Ray Cyrus: From ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ to ‘Old Town Road’ – A Country Icon’s Journey

Born in the early ’60s, Billy Ray Cyrus rose to fame in 1992 with his debut single Achy Breaky Heart, which topped charts worldwide.

His debut album, Some Gave All, featuring the hit single, sold an impressive 20 million copies, setting a record for the highest sales for a male debut solo album.

Since then, Billy Ray has released 15 studio albums. While none of these have matched the extraordinary success of his debut, several tracks such as Could’ve Been Me, She’s Not Cryin’ Anymore, and In the Heart of a Woman charted well.

His most notable recent success came in 2019 with Old Town Road (Remix) alongside Lil Nas X, which became his second biggest hit.

Beyond music, Billy Ray is also an accomplished actor. He starred in TV shows such as Doc and Hannah Montana, where he worked alongside his daughter, pop sensation Miley Cyrus. Miley’s godmother, Dolly Parton, further ties their legendary family into the entertainment industry.
