Queen Bey: From Destiny’s Child to Global Icon
Beyoncé began her journey with the teenage girl group Destiny’s Child, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1997.
The single No, No, No caught the attention of both the music industry and the public, setting the stage for what was to come.
In 1999, the group followed up with the now-legendary The Writing’s on the Wall, featuring four massive singles: Bug A Boo, Jumpin’, Jumpin’, Bills, Bills, Bills, and Say My Name. These hits catapulted Destiny’s Child—and Beyoncé—into global fame. As the saying goes, every girl wanted to be them, and every guy wanted to be with them.
The album has since sold 13 million copies worldwide.
Their third album, Survivor (2001), continued the momentum with the lead single Survivor, as well as Independent Women and Bootylicious.
After extensive touring, the group members decided to pursue solo careers. Beyoncé’s debut single Crazy In Love, featuring her future husband Jay-Z, marked the beginning of a monumental solo career.
Since then, Beyoncé has released hit after hit, including Irreplaceable, Halo, Run the World (Girls), Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), If I Were a Boy, Deja Vu, and Love On Top.
Now regarded as one of the best-selling artists of all time, Beyoncé has sold over 260 million records—and counting.
