Moving only from I – IV – V on repeat, the chords for Because I Hot High don’t require much thought, probably a great idea if you’re high!
The only variation appears at the end when the turnaround moves I – V – I using Roman Numerals or G5 – D5 – G5, using normal, easy-to-play guitar chords.

Because I Got High’s background and success
Because I Got High is a single released in 2000 by American rapper Afroman using the file-sharing site Napster.
Initially, the song didn’t gain much traction, but once Howard Stern started playing it on his famous radio show it spread like wildfire.
A year after its initial release, it became the theme song of Jay And Silent Bob Strikes Back, a film similar to ’70s stoners Cheech and Chong, making it a worldwide hit.
As the lyrics detail all the negatives of marijuana smoking the singers/rappers simply laugh it all off, perfectly capturing the main feature of the drug – Fuck up, don’t care, and find it funny. Because I Got High captures this essence of the pothead’s philosophy perfectly.
