Katy Perry has sold 143 million albums!
Pop princess Katy Perry has a remarkable track record of successful tunes and mind-blowing album sales.
Her first big single I Kissed A Girl came in 2008 and was a sign of what was to come; nursery-style sing-along pop anthems. Or as I like to call them: Easier said than done!
Next single Hot n Cold confirmed that Katy knew how to do this.
Two years later Katy released her crown jewel in Teenage Dream. This album had so many big hits on it Katy established herself as “up there” with Britney, Taylor, and Christina by having tunes like Firework, California Gurls (with Snoop Dog), Last Friday Night, and title track Teenage Dream.
In 2013, Prism came out, the big single here was Roar. Produced by Swedish Max Martin, it seemed as if Katy would just keep releasing hits. Sadly, no other tune on this album did as well.
Since Roar, Katy has released two more albums but with no significant hits.
So what has she been doing instead? Well, she played the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015, it was pretty intense, probably took a while to sort out.
Then, there’s the Las Vegas residency she’s been holding down which I hear is mighty epic.
Should anyone complain that she’s not done so well lately, no more hits and all that, I guess she could point out that she’s actually sold 143 million albums and surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. Hopefully she’s not spending it all in the Casino!
I’ve gathered a playlist with all these highlights above for you, go on, have a Katy Perry guilty pleasure moment, you know you want to!
