The band that would become a Broadway and West End Musical!
Franki Valli and his four seasons released a string of fantastic tunes that made them one of the most recognizable bands in popular culture.
Their first two big hits were Sherry and Big Girls Don’t Cry in 1962. These were not debut singles by any means, they’d been going under different names for a decade already. But 1962 was the year the band made it with two #1 singles.
Franki Valli and The Four Seasons would follow their big singles up with a series of covers and original material that did reasonably well, Walk Like A Man even made it to #1 but never stuck in the public consciousness like their first two #1’s have.
In 1964, their next massive hit came with Silence Is Golden. This was a song that’s stuck, and so has Working My Way Back (1966), although at the time it only just about made it into the top 10.
In 1967, the Four Seasons release Beggin’, which did reasonably well in the charts, although overshadowed by Franki Valli’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, an enormous success the world over. Funnily enough, this was a solo release but written and produced by members of the Four Seasons.
Next, it would take until 1975 before the next worldwide hit came in December 1963 (Oh, What A Night!).
In 2005, the musical Jersey Boys premiered on Broadway, telling the story of the band from four perspectives, or seasons, by four band members.
A huge success, the musical has toured the world and held down theatre stints in London’s West End, but also around the world in cities like Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto, Melbourne, Singapore, and Dubai.
