From Nirvana to Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is our time’s greatest rock star!
As Dave Grohl was touring with Nirvana, he spent much of his time recording demos. When Kurt tragically died and Nirvana was no more, Dave started his solo project Foo Fighters by recording his demos.
Dave played all instruments and sang himself on his first album, spread it around the music business, formed a band to support the album, and got picked up by Capitol.
Dave Grohl is one of the few true rock stars still active today who managed to be in two, generation-defining bands.
Learn these five classic Foo Fighter tunes
The opening track from Foo Fighters’ fourth studio album, One By One, All My Life was the most successful single, spending ten weeks at the top spot of the alternative charts.
By now, Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl had reached worldwide fame, with Nirvana being something he used to do, rather than what he was known for.
A straight-ahead rocker from Foo Fighters’ second album, The Colour, and The Shape, Monkey Wrench was actually the lead single.
Two other singles featured from this album in Everlong and My Hero.
On the 2005 release, In Your Honour, we find the amazing Best of You which also works great as an acoustic arrangement.
From the 2007 album Echoes, Silence and Grace, we find The Pretender. Easily the biggest song on the album, it cemented Dave Grohl’s superstardom.
On the 2009 Greatest Hits album, all these songs are featured.
