The I – VI movement!

This is the easiest and most difficult lesson among the 2 chord loops.

Since the C major pentatonic (chord I) match up exactly with the A minor pentatonic we don’ have to look for two shapes.

The shapes will use exactly the same frets, however, the intervals will change.

As the video lesson do, ensure your licks point out if you are playing over a major chord, or if you are playing over a minor chord.

To move the lick in the video all over the neck is essential since this will give you all the important intervals inside every shape.

Intervals and hit writing

When you can play all shapes of the minor pentatonic and the major pentatonic you need to learn all intervals inside them.

The video lesson should set you off on that journey.

When you completed these Jam Tracks, don’t stop looking for intervals in relation to chords.

Take as a habit to learn the melody for every song you learn the chords to, check what intervals are being used in relation to every chord.

In order for you to improvise melodically, write a hit melody or riff: learn from your favorite songs!
