Improvisation in Am using the Phrygian mode.
Ask yourself if you can see/do the following:
- Can you see the Minor Pentatonic shapes?
- Can you see the b2nd and b6th?
-
Can you improvise with this scale?
- Are you struggling with a particular shape?
When you answered the above, practice accordingly.
if you find that it is always, for example, the Cm shape you trip up on, practice this shape more.
Guru Improvisations
These improvisations do not have any chords behind it, all you can hear is the actual scale, compare this to all the other minor modal improvisations:
- Aeolian
- Dorian
- Phrygian
Make sure you can actually see when I ad the extra notes in each of these improvisations, they are all in Am.
