Advanced Practice RoutineLearn how to connect all Phrygian scale shapes!

Connecting the Phrygian shapes, remember to do this in 12 keys, and to push the BPM!

Also, don’t forget to vary the triplet rhythm with other rhythms.

It doesn’t have to be the Spyder rhythm you are working on at the moment, pick any rhythm you feel is right.

As you practice with variations you will still be playing the same scale shape, adding notes to the minor pentatonic.

Should you run this exercise through the cycle of 4ths, how many keys can you manage to get through, and at what tempo?

Connecting Shape Exercise

It’s easy to get a bit blind when practicing, should this happen, simply take a short break.

As you come back for more, just focus on minor pentatonic, identify all extra intervals and start again.

There is no harm in skipping back and forth between these exercises, the best thing you can do is to take full responsibility for your own progression.

If you are notating BPM as you go along, do check back once a week to see that you can still play old shapes.
