Learn how to play the G shaped Ionian mode!
The G shaped Ionian mode should not be confused with the Em shaped Aeolian mode, focus on the intervals and practice extensively.
Remember to sing intervals, notate BPM and look for other modes in this shape.

G shaped Ionian and all other modes
Check that you can see all other modes and chord numbers within the G shape:
- R – Chord I – Ionian G shape
- 2 – Chord II – Dorian Am shape
- 3 – Chord III – Phrygian Cm shape
- 4 – Chord IV – Lydian C shape
- 5 – Chord V – Mixolydian D shape
- 6 – Chord VI – Aeolian Em shape
It is not enough to just learn the Ionian mode.
A mode need to be mastered individually as well as having its place in the bigger picture.
