Apart form comparing Dorian to it’s most obvious modes such as Aeolian and Phrygian.

Also compare it to Ionian, Lydian and Mixolydian.

In Mixolydian you’ll find that there is only one interval that differ, the min 3rd.

The more reference points you have, the better.

However, always make sure you cement your shapes deriving from the Pentatonic.
