Creepin' In Chords

The key exercise to learning your chord shapes!

This exercise deals with the cycle of 4ths in a new way.

Instead of moving in 4ths up and down the neck we now start moving to the closest chord shape possible, watch the videos to understand this concept.

Use this exercise to make sure you know all the 7th note chord shapes

Step 1

Start at the 5th fret (that’s the E shaped A chord) then play through the cycle of 4ths until you arrive at the D shaped chord A chord. The cycle runs:

A, D, G, C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, B, E and back to A.

Step 2

Once you mastered the exercise pick a different starting point, for example the C shape.

Step 3

Experiment with different BPM settings in order to push yourself.

Step 4

Measure your progression by looking back at your BPM results.
