Bessie Smith, The Empress of Blues!

Bessie Smith was an American blues singer who was nick named The Queen Of Blues and later upgraded to Empress.

Smith is often regarded as one of the greatest singers of her era (20s and 30s) and along with Louis Armstrong, a major influence on subsequent jazz vocalists.

In the last 25 years Bessie Smith has been inducted to an impressive five Hall Of Fame’s: Rock And Roll, Big Band And Jazz, Blues, Grammy Lifetime Achievement and the Nesuhi Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame.
