Similarly to I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, Dreadlock Holiday is more pop/reggae than “roots reggae”.
To get the rhythm part right is all about muting, a combination of left and right hand muting that is.
Study the video carefully, look out for different ways of muting. Left hand muting is mainly done with the little finger, the right hand is palm muting.
Also notice how long a chord is held for before the mute kicks in. The shorter the sound, the “snappier” the effect.
Picking and Strumming
What will add a sophisticated feel to any one guitar arrangement is the use of picking and strumming together.
Use the DIY TAB to notate a combination you like, but ultimately this should be a feel thing.
Follow the vocal in order to find when to add rhythmical fills and when to not.
To get the strumming pattern right, start by practicing the Etude you find in Rhythm Guitar.
