The Intro to this track is a guitar version of the string arrangement on the original.
The chord progression use the IIIx chord to lead more clearly to VI.
Similarly, the IIx chord appear in the M8 (bridge) section and lead to V (4th up) which finally leads to I (4th up).
Cyclic progressions like this happen all the time. They derive from the Blues concept of: I – IV (4th up) V – I (4th up).
The progression of A Change Is Gonna Come is theoretically simple, apart from the intro which you will have to memorize.
A Change Is Gonna Come Intro
Using the DIY TAB of The Conspiracy, and the video lesson; work out what the different chords extend to.
I6 in the key of G would be a G6 for example (first chord).
Another chord type used is slash chords, these are notated as, for example V6/VII which means D6/F# in the key of G.
Since all these chords are played with a guitar capo, we are actually in the key of A.
As a guitarist you should think of this as playing in G since this is what the shapes tell you.
Use the Conspiracy, Chordacus and the SWS to understand this fully.
