I Can't Stand The Rain Rhythm Guitar Learn how to play blues rhythm guitar on one acoustic guitar!
Being a pretty forceful rhythm part, the most important part of playing this on one guitar is muting. As usual, it's a combination of left and right hand muting that will bring you most success. As the video demonstrates, the right hand dampening action is not memorized, it's a technique that happens naturally. Practice Spyders and rhythm exercises to get better. What you see in the video lesson might seem forceful, but every single pluck of the string is focused on projecting as loud and clear as possible, not to just "whack it". Rhythm Guitar DetailsTo achieve a loud and clear sound out of your acoustic guitar you will have to adjust to the actual instrument. Feel how hard you can hit a string without being unmusical. This will vary from guitar to guitar, how high the string action is, thickness of pick etc. If you try to make the gear work perfectly for you, you will never be happy. Instead, you should be the one adjusting. Use the 'DIY TAB' to work out some of the rhythmical patterns in the video, from that point, keep it improvised. Blues/Soul music shouldn't be memorized like a Green Day riff, it should keep evolving. |
