The rhythm guitar part of Redemption Song has more detail than what first might seem to be the case.
However, once you get the hang of the basic strumming pattern you will see how this remains pretty much intact through out.

A combination of strumming and plucking the bass notes gives the pattern a more sophisticated feel.
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd use a similar technique, this is an Advanced lesson but do try it out, the notes are very similar.

If you start focusing on little rhythm guitar details like this all ready now you will become a more solid and sophisticated player in the future.

Practice Rhythm Guitar by focusing on details

Notice how SpyTunes version use a pick and alternate between plucked bass notes and a strummed upper part of the chord.
Usually this type of technique is used in a finger style arrangements, Tears In Heaven is a good examples of this.

By applying a similar approach when using a pick means that you get a greater distinction between bass lines and chords, this should lead to a fuller sounding guitar part.

If you find it difficult to transcribe the rhythm part, try some rhythm and transcription exercises.

The most difficult part to play in 'Redemption Song' is the M8, to get it right, keep a loose wrist and mute the strings with both your left and right hand.
