Welcome to Spy Tunes, let me tell you a bit about myself and how this all came to be.
Spy Tunes was founded after I’d been working in guitar education for over 15 years.
After numerous private students and night classes I started working for Bimm (bimm.co.uk) and Guitar Techniques. My first online adventure was with “Show Me How To Play” in 2006 until I finally settled with Spy Tunes in 2007.
It is my firm belief that guitar tuition is best experienced online with an active community sharing ideas with each other.

Playing Live
Playing live is what it’s all about and I’ve been lucky to do this for over two decades now.
I’ve toured with: Paolo Nutini, Kula Shaker, Will and The People, The Magic Bullet Band, Girls Aloud, The Hoosiers, Guthrie Govan, Pixie Lott and The Script.
These days I spend my time between Spy Tunes and work with different agencies as a session player, find me on facebook to find out what’s going on right now!
Why is Spy Tunes different?
Spy Tunes methodology go against learning songs using muscle memory and TAB.
Instead, we discover the building blocks and universal rules of music such as intervals and chord numbers.
For example, when we understand how a songs chord progression can be translated to numbers we can learn from every song we play instead of just memorizing another bunch of chords in a new order.

Using this approach it will soon be obvious how all musical styles can be viewed in the same way, using the same shapes, repeating the same patterns that always occur in popular music.
This means that you will no longer be bound by style and that you eventually can stop practicing the guitar, just play and explore.

All songs are free to watch under the categories of Beginner Songs, Intermediate Songs, Advanced Songs and Master Songs.
For the electric guitarist we have Blues Legacy, Blues Rock and Modern Rock songs to learn.

With modern technology such as webcams and YouTube this is easy, simply record yourself playing a song or exercise and video respond to my video.
Not only can I give you direct feedback on how you can improve, your Spy Tunes friends can comment as well. This way we can learn from each other.
My extensive research in how to best learn guitar show that peer to peer learning is the quickest and most efficient way to improve, so don’t be shy!

One on One Guitar Lessons
Sometimes only regular one on one lessons will do, I provide this in two different formats.

- Via Skype lessons (worldwide)
If you live in Brighton or the surrounding area, contact me to set up private lessons.
I have found that 45 minutes is a good time for regular lessons, there is a waiting list, but do get in touch.
